Senior for Safe Driving Program Offered Oct. 25, Says Irvin Attendees eligible for a discount on auto insurance
September 24, 2018
HARRISBURG – Rep. Rich Irvin (R-Huntingdon/Mifflin/Centre) is once again hosting a Seniors for Safe Driving program to help sharpen and improve the driving skills of older motorists. The program will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fellowship Center at Westminster Woods, 360 Westminster Drive, Huntingdon.
“This is a terrific opportunity for older drivers to learn some helpful strategies to make them better drivers,” said Irvin. “As we age, we deal with changing physical and mental abilities that can impact driving. This program gives participants strategies to deal with those changes, so they can be safer and smarter drivers.”
The class is for both first-time attendees, as well as those just needing a refresher.
The Seniors for Safe Driving program is beneficial for older drivers looking to improve their driving skills through gaining a better knowledge on how to adjust their driving techniques and habits to compensate for many of the challenges facing older motorists.
The program is open to drivers age 55 and older. There is no on-the-road driving required and no exam will be given. At the completion of the class, motorists will be eligible to receive a minimum 5 percent discount on their auto insurance premiums.
Individuals interested in attending the class can register online at SeniorsForSafeDriving.com or call 1-800-559-4880. Tuition cost for the class is $16.
For additional information, call Irvin’s district office at (814) 644-2996.
