HARRISBURG – Rep. Rich Irvin (R-Franklin/Huntingdon) is hosting two upcoming license plate replacement events in Huntingdon and Shippensburg for area residents.

“These events are for anyone who has a faded, peeling or otherwise unreadable or damaged license plate to get a free replacement,” said Irvin. “Officers from the area sheriff’s offices will be on hand at each location to fill out the paperwork. The new plates will be available at my offices for pick-up once processed through PennDOT.”

Vehicle owners are asked to bring their unexpired Pennsylvania driver’s license and current vehicle registration card to the event.

The first event will be held Thursday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Smithfield Fire Hall, 10 Firehouse Lane, Huntingdon. Irvin will be partnering with Huntingdon County Sheriff Jeff Leonard.

The second event will be held Friday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southampton Township Municipal Building, 703 Municipal Drive, Shippensburg, with Franklin County Sheriff Ben Sites. At this event, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office will also be conducting car seat safety checks for those interested.

Those who are unable to attend these events and are in need of a replacement license plate can apply for a plate at any time by using PennDOT form MV-46. A completed form, signed by a law enforcement officer or certified safety inspector, can be submitted to Irvin’s district offices for processing.

For more information, call Irvin’s district offices at 814-644-2996 (Huntingdon) or 717-532-1707 (Shippensburg).
