HARRISBURG – Motorists age 55 or older who want to sharpen their driving skills while also getting a discount on auto insurance are encouraged to sign up for Rep. Rich Irvin’s (R-Franklin/Huntingdon) Seniors for Safe Driving class on Friday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 703 Municipal Drive, Shippensburg.

“This is a great class in which participants always walk away with valuable information and some helpful driving tips geared specifically for older motorists,” said Irvin. “I encourage all interested drivers to register for the class.”

The Seniors for Safe Driving program is a PennDOT-approved course for older drivers to gain a better knowledge of how to adjust their driving techniques and habits to compensate for many of the challenges facing older motorists.

The program is open to drivers age 55 and older. There is no on-the-road driving required and no exam will be given. At the completion of the class, motorists will be eligible to receive a minimum 5% discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years.

Individuals interested in attending the class may register online at SeniorsForSafeDriving.com or call 1-800-559-4880. The cost for the class is $17.

For additional information, call Irvin’s district office at 814-644-2996.
