HARRISBURG - Rep. Rich Irvin (R-Huntingdon/Centre/Mifflin) today congratulated the Southern Huntingdon County School District on being awarded a $1.1 million grant for infrastructure improvements along Route 994 (Pogue Road), adjacent to the school district’s existing high school/middle school campus in Cromwell Township.

“I was happy to lend my support for this needed funding for the project, which will improve safety and access to the school,” said Irvin.

Improvements under the project include the creation of two new driveways to the campus, rehabilitation of the existing driveway, and the construction of deceleration and turn-lanes along Route 994.

“We are very appreciative of the local and regional legislative support we received from the Huntingdon County Commissioners, Rep. Rich Irvin, Sen. Judy Ward, Southern Alleghenies and PennDOT. This funding will help offset the necessary safety design upgrades to the Southern Huntingdon County School District campus entrances,” said Dwayne Northcraft, superintendent, Southern Huntingdon County School District.

The funding was awarded through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, which provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to residents across the Commonwealth.
